[Picture: Background: 8 piece pie style color split with red and teal alternating. Foreground: White guy with glasses and light shadow wearing a sweat shirt over a button down and short black hair. Has a smug, arrogant facial expression and crossed arms. Top text: “ [Why are you getting so upset about THAT?] ” Bottom text: “ [Don’t you people have more important issues to worry about?] ”]
Privileged people: I know that this may be a hard concept to grasp, but guess what? You do not get to decide what issues are and aren’t important to a marginalized person. You do not get to decide what “isn’t that big of a deal!”. You do not get to decide what “can’t REALLY feel that bad!”.
You do not get to say that what an oppressed group goes through on a daily basis isn’t “severe enough” and therefore, decide that that person just needs to buck up and focus on “more important things”.
Privileged people do not determine what is and isn’t important and they sure as hell don’t get to decide when the feelings of a marginalized person are valid.

EVERY TIME. Every goddamn time I hear “more important things to worry about” I just want to start punching everything....
